Vulnerability & Importance

Just as the crane wheel is the most vulnerable part in the traveling unit, rope drums are also a vulnerable part in the hoisting mechanism due to the long‑term wear of grooves. When the rope drum becomes worn, the wire rope will also wear out quickly – a very dangerous condition.

Moreover, replacing a rope drum is more complex than replacing a crane wheel. You need to disassemble the entire hoisting unit, including the hoisting motor, brake, wire rope, and the hook (a grab or other spreader makes the process even more troublesome). Therefore, high‑quality wire rope drums are extremely important for your crane's safety and reliability.
